Improving Endurance and Stamina While Jogging

I have been an avid jogger now for about forty years. Rigorous exercise is an essential part of a person’s general health, and I consider exercise, whether its jogging, swimming, or aerobic activity, a part of a person’s daily self-care. Jogging is an effective form of burning calories, and can aid in weight management, stress relief, and overall fitness. But without endurance and stamina, you will be unable to cover long distances without fatigue. Building endurance and stamina requires patience, proper training, and time-on task discipline.

First, focus on jogging at a comfortable or “conversational” pace, in which you can speak in complete sentences without gasping for air. This pace also conditions the heart, lungs, and other muscles gradually without overexerting them. Start with three to four sessions per week before increasing your total weekly distance by just 10 percent to prevent injury.
